The first history quiz will take place on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018. It will cover the highlighted portions of all ten lectures, vocabulary words, and locations studied on the maps of Mesopotamia. All materials needed to prepare for this quiz should be in the fifth grade students’ green history pocket folders.
The science test on our first chapter covering methods of science will be Wednesday, September 19th. We will be reviewing before the test during class and I will send home a study guide for students to use to study.
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a Lower School Homework Club beginning on Monday, September 10! The LS Homework Club will provide K-5 students support with homework completion. It will be offered Monday through Thursday from 3.45-4.30pm in Room 103. If your child will be attending Homework Club, pre-registration is not necessary, as it will be run on a drop-in basis. Parents should pick up their child at or before 4.30pm if they are attending Homework Club. At 4:35pm, any students that are not picked up will be sent to Scholar Zone, our after-school child care program and will be billed accordingly. If your child will be attending Scholar Zone after Homework Club, they will need to be pre-registered. Registration, as well as fee information for Scholar Zone, can be found on the Nova website, under “Current Families” and then “Before and After-School Care”. Please let Mrs. Tousignant know if you have questions about Homework Club. Mrs. Reinhardt can be contacted for any questions relating to Scholar Zone.
The first chapter in our science textbook focuses on what science and scientific inquiry are and learning about scientific measurement and tools. Please feel free to go over the material in the textbook and the homework assignments with your child at home. The chapter pages are numbered with NOS in this first unit.
The fifth grade will study and review all parts of speech. We will begin with nouns.
Check on this site frequently because we post useful information, such as the weekly spelling words, notice of quizzes, and notice of tests, as well as other news in our classrooms.
